Junior Software Developer (Platforms)
About this job
About the role
This is SFA's first in-house technical hire. You will look after three platforms: the SFA website, our internship portal (fintechinternships.sg), and our member portal. Part of the work is keeping these platforms running well, and part of it is building the upgrades that members, students and partners will use.
You will be the only technical person in our Singapore office. You will report to our Growth Programs Lead, who sets priorities for the platforms together with our General Manager. For technical guidance, you will work closely with an experienced freelance engineering team based in Kuala Lumpur. They will help you get up to speed on our platforms, review your work, and handle larger pieces of development while you build your experience. Over time, we expect you to take on more of the day-to-day development yourself.
You won't own product decisions, but you will work close to them. When internal teams bring requests, you will help turn them into clear requirements, estimate the effort involved, point out technical trade-offs, and keep people updated on timelines once priorities are agreed.
What you'll work on
SFA website
You will maintain the website, make content and page updates, fix issues, and keep the site secure and performing well. You will also support the website redesign.
Internship portal
The portal connects fintech companies with students and supports SFA's internship grant programme. You will fix bugs, improve the experience for students and employers, and help deliver planned upgrades such as grant eligibility, membership exclusive access features. Some of this work involves personal data and government login systems, so you will work under the guidance of our engineering partners on anything that touches security or data protection.
Member portal
You will support upgrades to the member portal, which our member companies will use. This means building the changes that the Growth team has prioritised, or coordinating them with our engineering partners where the work is larger.
CRM and data
HubSpot is our main CRM. You will help keep member and platform data consistent across our systems, and over time this is likely to include connecting our portals to HubSpot so that information flows between them without manual work.
How the first year is likely to look
In your first three months, most of your time will go into learning the three platforms, handling maintenance and smaller fixes, and working alongside the KL team on their current projects. From around three to six months, we expect you to take smaller upgrades from agreed requirements through to release. By the end of the first year, you should be the person who knows how SFA's platforms work, handling most day-to-day development yourself and coordinating external developers on larger pieces of work. Throughout, we will ask you to document how our systems work, so that knowledge about our platforms doesn't sit with any one person.
What we're looking for
• You have a diploma or degree in computer science, IT or a related field, or equivalent skills from a bootcamp or self-directed learning, and you can show us something you have built.
• You have up to two years of experience building or maintaining web applications. Fresh graduates with solid projects are welcome to apply.
• You are comfortable with JavaScript or TypeScript and have worked with a modern front-end framework, a relational database, and Git.
• You can work without close technical supervision. You work out what needs doing next, ask for help when you are stuck, and tell people early when something is going to be late.
• You write clearly, because a large part of this job is explaining technical work to people who are not technical.
• You are comfortable working with a remote team and taking feedback on your code.
Nice to have
• Experience with HubSpot or another CRM, especially using its API to sync data between systems.
• Experience with Supabase or PostgreSQL, or with AI-assisted build tools such as Lovable.
• Experience working with a product owner or project lead, such as writing user stories, testing releases against requirements or keeping a backlog up to date.
• Familiarity with data protection practices and Singapore's PDPA.
• An interest in fintech or financial services.
What we offer
You will work across the full life of three live platforms, from maintenance through to building and releasing new features, with support from an experienced engineering team while you build your skills. Because of SFA's position in the industry, you will also see how regulators, financial institutions and fintech companies work together.
