PositionOverview

The Principal – Malaysia Market Expansion& School Operations will provide strategic and operational leadership forAl Hamra in Kuala Lumpur while supporting the organisation’s broader expansionand growth in the Malaysian education market.

The role combines school leadership with in-marketbusiness development, market adaptation, stakeholder engagement and operationalcapability building. The successful candidate will be responsible forestablishing a strong understanding of the Malaysian education landscape andtranslating this knowledge into sustainable operating practices, partnerships,student recruitment strategies and growth opportunities for the organisation.

The role requires the development of newcompetencies in Malaysian education regulations, local market practices,stakeholder management, business development, partnership development andmarket-specific operational management, building on the candidate’sexisting leadership and education experience.

KeyResponsibilities

1. MalaysiaMarket & Business Development

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Malaysian private education and early learning landscape, including market trends, parent expectations, competitor positioning and emerging opportunities.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities for Al Hamra and the wider organisation to expand its presence within Kuala Lumpur and other suitable Malaysian markets.
  • Develop market-entry and growth strategies aligned with the organisation’s regional expansion objectives.
  • Identify potential strategic partners, education networks, community organisations and other stakeholders that can support market development.
  • Build and maintain relationships with relevant local stakeholders to strengthen the organisation’s market presence and reputation.
  • Monitor market developments and provide regular insights and recommendations to Group Management.

2. MalaysiaRegulatory & Compliance Capability

  • Develop practical knowledge of Malaysian education regulations, licensing requirements, employment practices and other relevant regulatory requirements affecting school operations.
  • Work with relevant local authorities, professional bodies and external advisors to ensure the school's operations are appropriately aligned with Malaysian requirements.
  • Establish and document market-specific compliance and operational procedures for future replication within Malaysia.
  • Identify regulatory risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures to Group Management.

3. SchoolLeadership & Localisation

  • Provide strategic leadership for Al Hamra Kuala Lumpur, ensuring the school operates in accordance with the organisation's educational philosophy, standards and strategic objectives.
  • Adapt operational, academic and parent-engagement practices to suit the Malaysian market while maintaining organisational standards.
  • Lead the development and implementation of school policies, systems and processes appropriate to the local operating environment.
  • Establish effective systems for student recruitment, enrolment, parent engagement, staff development and service quality.
  • Monitor school performance through defined operational, academic, enrolment and financial indicators.

4.Stakeholder & Partnership Development

  • Develop relationships with parents, education professionals, community organisations, local institutions and strategic partners.
  • Identify opportunities for collaborations, joint programmes and community engagement initiatives that can increase brand visibility and student acquisition.
  • Represent Al Hamra and the organisation at relevant education, business and community platforms in Malaysia.
  • Develop a local stakeholder network that supports long-term market penetration and business growth.

5. Business& Operational Performance

  • Develop and monitor annual operating plans and budgets for the Kuala Lumpur operation.
  • Track key performance indicators including student enrolment, retention, revenue growth, operating costs, customer satisfaction and partnership development.
  • Analyse operational and market data to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.
  • Implement scalable systems and processes that can support future expansion of the organisation in Malaysia.
  • Provide regular market and business performance reports to Group Management in Singapore.

6. TalentDevelopment & Knowledge Transfer

  • Recruit, develop and lead a capable local management and teaching team.
  • Develop staff capabilities in service quality, parent engagement, operational excellence and the organisation's educational approach.
  • Build a structured knowledge base covering Malaysian market practices, regulatory requirements, stakeholder networks and operational processes.
  • Transfer relevant market knowledge and lessons learnt to the Singapore-based management team to strengthen the organisation's regional expansion capabilities.

KeyDeliverables / KPIs

The role will be measured against definedbusiness and capability-building outcomes, including:

  1. Successful establishment and operationalisation of Al Hamra Kuala Lumpur.
  2. Achievement of agreed student enrolment, retention and revenue targets.
  3. Development of a Malaysia market-entry and growth strategy.
  4. Identification and development of strategic local partnerships and stakeholder networks.
  5. Completion and implementation of Malaysia-specific regulatory and operational frameworks.
  6. Development of a sustainable local management and staffing structure.
  7. Improvement in parent engagement, service quality and school performance indicators.
  8. Identification of further business expansion opportunities within Malaysia.
  9. Development of documented market intelligence and operating knowledge for use by Group Management.
  10. Demonstrable transfer of Malaysian market knowledge and capabilities to the Singapore-based organisation.

CandidateProfile

  • Strong leadership and management experience in education, learning or related sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams and operational functions.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and relationship-building capabilities.
  • Ability to operate independently in a new market and develop local networks.
  • Strong strategic and commercial orientation, with the ability to translate market insights into business opportunities.
  • Willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge relating to Malaysian regulations, market practices and business operations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Singapore-based Group Management and contribute to regional expansion initiatives.
