JUNIOR SOFTWARE DEVELOPER

We are looking for a Junior Software Developer to join our technical team and support the development, enhancement, maintenance and integration of software applications and business systems for our clients.

The ideal candidate should have good hands-on experience in JavaScript and practical experience working with APIs and system integrations. You will work closely with the technical and operations teams to develop solutions, integrate third-party platforms and improve internal workflows and business applications.

Key Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance web-based applications and software solutions using JavaScript and related technologies.
• Write clean, structured and maintainable code in accordance with development standards and best practices.
• Design, develop and maintain API interfaces and integrations between internal applications and third-party systems.
• Work extensively with REST APIs, JSON, authentication methods and data exchange between different systems.
• Integrate third-party APIs and services into existing applications and business workflows.
• Develop and maintain API connections, including handling authentication, requests, responses, errors, timeouts and data validation.
• Troubleshoot and resolve API integration, application and connectivity issues.
• Work with webhooks and event-based integrations where required.
• Test API interfaces and integrations using tools such as Postman or equivalent.
• Work with databases to retrieve, update and manage application data.
• Assist in debugging, testing and resolving software defects and system issues.
• Perform application testing, including functional, integration and regression testing.
• Assist in system deployment, configuration and ongoing application support.
• Work with senior developers to understand technical requirements and translate business requirements into workable software solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and follow established coding, security and documentation standards.
• Maintain proper technical documentation for applications, APIs, integrations and system configurations.
• Monitor existing integrations and assist in identifying potential system or performance issues.
• Assist in automating repetitive business and operational processes through software development and system integration.
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and provide practical technical solutions.
• Keep up to date with current software development technologies, JavaScript frameworks, API standards and integration practices.
• Perform any other software development, system integration or technical duties as assigned by Management.

Technical Skills & Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
• Good practical knowledge of JavaScript.
• Experience with API integration and interfacing is strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with REST APIs, JSON and HTTP/HTTPS.
• Experience using API testing tools such as Postman is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of Node.js and/or modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Vue or Angular is preferred.
• Basic understanding of databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with Git or other version-control systems.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle and basic coding practices.
• Good troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read and understand existing code and technical documentation.
• Able to work independently on assigned tasks while seeking guidance when required.
• Strong willingness to learn new technologies and develop technical capabilities.

Role Development

This role is intended for a developer who is at the junior level but has strong potential to progress into a Software Developer / Full-Stack Developer or Integration Engineer.

The successful candidate will have opportunities to take on increasingly complex software development, API integration, automation and system architecture responsibilities as their technical competency and experience develop.
