Chartering Executive (Tankers)

Role Overview

We are seeking a Chartering Executive to support the commercial employment and performance of tanker vessels. The successful candidate will identify cargo opportunities, evaluate voyage economics, negotiate fixtures and coordinate closely with brokers, charterers and vessel operations teams.

This position is suitable for a commercially driven professional with tanker chartering, shipbroking or vessel operations experience who is looking to develop within a shipowner or operator environment.

Responsibilities

• Review Charter Party terms, rider clauses and fixture recaps.
• Monitor tanker markets, freight rates, vessel positions and cargo movements.
• Maintain accurate records of enquiries, offers, fixtures and commercial activities.
• Coordinate with the operations team following fixture confirmation to ensure smooth voyage execution.
• Monitor vessel performance and voyage profitability against approved estimates.
• Assist with laytime, demurrage, claims and other post-fixture commercial matters.
• Provide regular market intelligence and commercial updates to management.
• Support the development of new customers and business opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience

• Diploma or degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Business or a related discipline.
• Approximately two to five years of experience in tanker chartering, shipbroking or commercial vessel operations.
• Good understanding of tanker markets, voyage calculations and Charter Party terms.
• Existing relationships with tanker charterers, brokers or cargo interests would be advantageous.
• Strong commercial awareness, negotiation and numerical skills.
• Able to work independently and respond promptly to changing market conditions.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant shipping or voyage-management systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
