Service Engineer – Mechanical Equipment | Marine & Offshore

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Service Engineer with a strong mechanical engineering background to join a Marine & Offshore organisation. The role will be responsible for providing on-site technical service, troubleshooting, installation, commissioning, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment used onboard vessels and within offshore facilities.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with marine machinery and mechanical systems, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently while engaging with shipowners, ship managers, shipyards, engineers and other technical stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out installation, commissioning, inspection, servicing, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical equipment.
• Attend vessels, shipyards, offshore facilities and customer sites to provide technical support.
• Diagnose mechanical faults and identify root causes of equipment failures.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on marine mechanical equipment.
• Overhaul, dismantle, inspect and reassemble mechanical machinery and components.
• Read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, schematics and equipment specifications.
• Conduct equipment testing and commissioning following servicing or repairs.
• Prepare detailed service reports, inspection reports and technical documentation.
• Liaise with customers to understand technical issues and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Coordinate with internal sales, after-sales, engineering and spare parts teams to resolve customer requirements.
• Provide technical advice and guidance to customers and vessel engineering teams.
• Support warranty investigations and technical claims where required.
• Identify recurring equipment issues and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and performance.
• Provide feedback to the engineering and product teams regarding equipment performance and field issues.
• Assist with preparation of service quotations, repair scopes and spare parts requirements.
• Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with company procedures, safety requirements and applicable marine standards.
• Travel regionally and internationally to support vessels, shipyards and customers when required.
