Chef (Kaki Bukit Nursing Home)

We are looking for experienced and independent cook for our upcoming nursing home in Kaki Bukit. This chef will be deployed at our Macpherson or Hougang branch for training. The chef will be responsible for preparing and cooking meals in accordance with approved menus and dietary requirements to ensure timely meal service for residents and staff.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Support Head Chef in maintaining regulatory compliance.
• Work closely with operations team, dietitians, speech therapists and nursing leaders to ensure meals prepared in accordance with the nutritional requirements and IDDSI standards.
• Manage day-to-day kitchen operations, including meal preparation, cooking, and plating.
• Supervise and lead kitchen staff to ensure all meals are prepared and presented in accordance with standard recipes, special diets requirement and SOPs.
• Support continuous improvement initiative to ensure quality and operational efficiency.
• To hold regular on-the-job training, coaching sessions and reviewing of performance
• Ordering of food supplies and manage inventory.
• Manage food costs and minimise wastage.
• Ensure proper documentation of hot holding, chiller, freezer temperature and regular cleaning records.
• Responsible for general upkeep of the kitchen, including pest control and kitchen utensils and equipment servicing and repair.
• Plan kitchen staff roster and standby for staff replacement due to exigencies.
• Perform any other duties assigned to ensure smooth kitchen operations.

Requirements:

• Able to work 6 days per week, including weekend and Public Holiday, according to roster
• Minimum with Primary education
• Minimum 3-5 years of relevant working experience in institutional catering of large-scale food service; healthcare experience is an advantage
• Able to cook Chinese dishes/cuisine
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Minimum Certificate in Food Safety and Hygiene
• Possess experience in supervising kitchen staff or leading a shift is preferred
