The BJJ Coach will deliver safe and structured classes for students of different ages and skill levels. The Coach will also be accountable for assigned business KPIs, membership growth, student satisfaction, student retention, and professional conduct.

Responsibilities

  1. Plan and conduct BJJ classes based on the academy’s approved curriculum and coaching standards.
  2. Coach children and adults across beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels.
  3. Conduct group classes, private lessons, technical drills, sparring sessions, and competition training.
  4. Monitor student progress, safety, attendance, and readiness for grading.
  5. Meet assigned KPIs relating to class attendance, student retention, private coaching, programme revenue, and membership growth.
  6. Conduct trial classes, engage prospective members, and support the conversion of suitable prospects into paying members.
  7. Build strong healthy relationships with students and parents and respond to feedback or service concerns professionally.
  8. Assist with competitions, grading events, seminars, training camps, and other revenue generating academy activities.
  9. Maintain accurate student records, class schedules, attendance information, and programme reports.
  10. Act with honesty and integrity in all coaching, grading, sales, and member interactions while maintaining high safety and service standards.

Requirements

  1. Must hold a recognised Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt with valid certification and verifiable lineage.
  2. At least five years of professional BJJ coaching or instructional experience.
  3. Proven experience coaching children and adults across different skill levels.
  4. Strong technical knowledge of BJJ techniques, competition rules, safe sparring, and injury prevention.
  5. Commercially aware and comfortable working towards business KPIs involving membership, retention, customer satisfaction, and programme revenue.
  6. Strong communication, customer service, class management, and personal integrity. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. First aid, CPR, and AED certification are preferred.
