Electrical Engineer
Job Scope
Collaborate with Project Managers to understand project requirements, technical specifications, contractual obligations, and client expectations.
Review and analyse electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, M&E drawings, construction drawings, authority requirements, tender specifications, contract documents, and technical submissions.
Participate in project planning, scheduling, coordination, and progress monitoring to ensure works are completed according to project requirements and timelines.
Coordinate and supervise electrical and M&E installation works, including power distribution, lighting systems, cabling, cable containment, electrical equipment, control systems, and related building services.
Monitor site works to ensure compliance with approved drawings, design requirements, project specifications, authority requirements, and industry standards.
Conduct regular site inspections to monitor work progress, installation quality, workmanship, safety, and compliance with project requirements.
Identify discrepancies, clashes, technical issues, or site constraints in drawings and actual site conditions, and coordinate with consultants, contractors, and relevant stakeholders for clarification and resolution.
Coordinate electrical works with architectural, structural, mechanical, ACMV, plumbing, fire protection, and other M&E services where required.
Oversee project execution in accordance with contract requirements, approved drawings, technical specifications, and regulatory requirements.
Liaise and coordinate with clients, owners, architects, consultants, project managers, main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and relevant authorities to ensure smooth project delivery.
Provide technical support and practical engineering solutions to resolve electrical, M&E, installation, coordination, and construction-related issues.
Review electrical equipment, materials, technical specifications, and product submissions to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Coordinate procurement, delivery, installation, inspection, and usage of electrical materials and equipment at site.
Implement and maintain Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures to ensure electrical and M&E works meet required quality standards.
Conduct inspections and checks on electrical installations, cabling, containment systems, equipment, materials, and completed works.
Coordinate and support testing, commissioning, inspection, and handover activities for electrical and M&E systems.
Assist in troubleshooting electrical, control, installation, and system-related issues during construction, testing, commissioning, and defect rectification.
Coordinate with relevant parties for electrical testing, inspections, system verification, and authority requirements where applicable.
Manage project resources effectively, including manpower, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities.
Prepare, update, monitor, and present project schedules using Microsoft Project.
Monitor project progress, identify potential delays, risks, technical issues, and coordination problems, and report project status to Management.
Implement and enforce Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) requirements and ensure safe working practices at site.
Conduct site safety inspections and follow up on corrective actions where necessary.
Prepare and maintain project documentation, including daily site reports, progress reports, inspection records, material records, manpower reports, equipment records, testing and commissioning records, and as-built drawings.
Assist in the preparation and submission of technical documents, method statements, material submissions, shop drawings, as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and project handover documentation.
Attend site meetings, coordination meetings, technical meetings, client meetings, and project discussions with relevant stakeholders.
Support project completion, testing and commissioning, handover, defects rectification, and post-completion matters.
Undertake any other engineering or project-related duties assigned by Management as required.
Job Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Engineering, M&E Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
Minimum 2 years of relevant working experience in electrical, M&E, construction, engineering, or building services projects.
Good knowledge of electrical systems, construction methods, installation processes, materials, and electrical equipment.
Familiar with electrical power distribution, lighting systems, cabling, cable containment systems, electrical panels, control systems, and related building services.
Basic knowledge of ACMV, fire protection, plumbing, and other M&E systems will be an advantage.
Able to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, M&E drawings, construction drawings, technical specifications, and project documents.
Familiar with relevant electrical regulations, building regulations, authority requirements, codes of practice, and safety standards.
Knowledgeable in AutoCAD and able to review or prepare electrical and M&E shop drawings.
Knowledge of BIM / Revit MEP will be an advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Project and able to prepare, update, and present project schedules to clients and stakeholders.
Experience in electrical testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and project handover will be an advantage.
Possession of WSQ safety-related certification or equivalent will be an advantage.
Strong technical, analytical, coordination, and problem-solving abilities.
Good communication, interpersonal, and written skills.
Able to coordinate effectively with clients, consultants, main contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
Able to manage site activities and assigned projects independently with minimal supervision.
Able to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
Positive attitude with a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to work.
Willing to attend to site matters, testing and commissioning activities, or emergency calls outside normal office hours when required.
6-day work week.
