STRUCTURAL FORMWORK DESIGN ENGINEER

A structural formwork designer in the construction industry plays a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient design of temporary structures required for concrete placement. This role requires a strong foundation in structural engineering principles, proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, Tekla), and practical knowledge of construction methods and materials. Effective communication and problem-solving skills are also essential to succeed as a structural formwork designer.

1. Design formwork systems (aluminium formwork and system formwork) to support concrete structures (slabs, beams, columns, walls, etc.) during construction.
2. Ensure designs adhere to engineering principles, building codes, and safety regulations.
3. Select appropriate materials (e.g., plywood, aluminium, steel) based on project specifications.
4. Perform structural analysis to determine load capacities, deflection limits, and stability of formwork systems.
5. Ensure designs can withstand live loads, dead loads, and environmental factors (wind, vibration, etc.).
6. Work closely with project managers, site engineers, and construction teams to align formwork designs with construction schedules and site conditions.
7. Coordinate with architects and structural engineers to integrate formwork designs with overall project plans.
8. Ensure formwork designs meet safety standards and regulatory compliance.
9. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards associated with formwork installation and removal.
10. Optimize the use of formwork materials to minimize costs and waste.
11. Explore reusable or modular formwork systems to enhance sustainability and efficiency.
12. Prepare detailed formwork drawings, specifications, and assembly instructions.
13. Provide technical support to site teams during formwork assembly, installation, and dismantling.
14. Research and implement new technologies and materials to improve formwork efficiency and durability.

Qualifications

• A diploma or degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
• Knowledge of engineering principles related to load-bearing structures and construction methods.
• At least 5 Years of working experience in the related field.
• Required Skill(s): AutoCAD.
