Overview
The Design Draftsperson plays a key role in preparing precise and detailed design drawings for pre-fabricated modular offices and dormitories. This role ensures compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will demonstrate proven skills in preparing steel structural shop drawings, cutting lists, and construction drawings to support fabrication and operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Design, Drafting, and Documentation
Develop precise architectural and structural drawings for modular buildings with detailed annotations.
Prepare cutting lists and construction drawings in line with project specifications.
Produce shop drawings for ongoing projects and tender submissions with technical accuracy.
Optimize material allocation through detailed cutting lists.
Collaborate with fabrication teams to verify and adjust cutting lists.
Prepare and organize documents for submission to regulatory authorities.
Assist senior staff with document control and general paperwork.
Coordination and Communication
Work closely with senior staff and team members to produce comprehensive design documentation.
Coordinate with Contracts, Fabrication, and Operations departments to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable.
Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers for timely project delivery.
Compile submission documents for authorities, ensuring compliance with building and fire safety regulations.
Provide technical support to site teams during installation.
Engage directly with clients to prepare shop drawings that meet project requirements.
Collaborate with Qualified Persons (QP) throughout project phases for submission, approval, and revisions.
Quality Assurance
Conduct design checks and clash detection to prevent fabrication or installation issues.
Review drawings prior to fabrication to minimize rework and ensure schedule adherence.
Verify accuracy and completeness of drawings before site installation.
Meetings and Presentations
Participate in tender presentations and project meetings, offering technical insights.
Collaborate with Safety Department to prepare method statements and equipment lists.
Attend site inspections and progress meetings to ensure installation aligns with approved designs.
Maintain organized documentation of drawings, approvals, and correspondence.
Innovation in Fabrication Design
Work with fabrication teams to identify innovative design solutions.
Stay updated on industry trends and technological advancements to improve efficiency and quality.
