Junior Bunker Trader
About this job
We are looking for a motivated and commercially driven Junior Bunker Trader to join our expanding trading team. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about sales, negotiation, and the maritime industry. You will work alongside experienced traders to develop customer relationships, source bunker fuel, negotiate competitive deals, and build your own trading portfolio.
This is a fast-paced role where success is measured by profitability, customer growth, and the ability to develop long-term commercial relationships.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Support Senior Traders in managing bunker fuel enquiries from shipowners, operators, charterers and brokers.
- Source competitive bunker quotations from physical suppliers and trading counterparts.
- Negotiate pricing, credit terms and delivery schedules with suppliers and customers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Monitor marine fuel prices, freight markets and industry developments.
- Prepare quotations, sales confirmations and trade documentation.
- Coordinate with Operations and Finance teams to ensure smooth execution of bunker deliveries.
- Resolve operational issues and customer queries promptly.
- Achieve individual sales and gross profit targets.
- Maintain accurate records in the CRM and trading systems.
- Comply with company policies, sanctions requirements and applicable regulations.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Supply Chain, Finance or a related discipline.
- 1–2years' experience in bunker trading, shipping, commodities trading, sales or customer service.
- Fresh graduates with a strong commercial mindset are encouraged to apply.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong numerical and analytical abilities.
- Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and competitive environment.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook and Word).
- Knowledge of the bunker industry or shipping sector is an advantage.
