SENIOR QUANTITY SURVEYOR

A Senior Quantity Surveyor leads cost management and commercial strategy on construction projects. They oversee cost planning, administer complex contracts, certify valuations, negotiate variations, and monitor financial performance. Additionally, they supervise junior surveyors and ensure the project remains commercially viable throughout its lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Cost Planning & Tendering: Lead budgeting, prepare bills of quantities (BQ), and evaluate complex tender packages.
• Contract Administration: Manage contracts (e.g., PSSCOC, SIA, FIDIC), handle extension of time (EOT) claims, and resolve disputes.
• Financial Control: Process progress payments, track variation orders (VO), and settle final accounts.
• Procurement: Source materials, negotiate with subcontractors, and draft procurement recommendations for upper management.
• Team Leadership: Mentor and guide junior QS staff, acting as the commercial bridge between project managers, contractors, and clients.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management.
• Experience: Typically 3 years and above of relevant industry experience (experience with local main contractors or large-scale civil/building projects is highly valued).
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in taking off quantities and using measurement software like CostX, CubiCost, or Glodon.
• Knowledge: Deep understanding of local construction contract laws, commercial practices, and financial risk mitigation
