Responsibilities

• Provision database instances with standardised baseline configurations across on-premises and cloud

• Apply database patches and manage CVE remediation across all platforms on schedule

• Manage database users, schemas, access permissions and role-based privilege control

• Monitor database performance — query throughput, resource utilisation and capacity trends

• Tune queries, execution plans and indexes to maintain performance within agreed thresholds

• Manage database backup policies and validate restore procedures on a regular schedule

• Monitor and manage high availability replication; execute failover and maintain RPO within targets

• Conduct database access auditing and produce compliance and audit reports

• Monitor database health and capacity; report on trends and escalate capacity risks proactively

• Manage middleware platforms — Apache, Nginx and IIS installation, patching and configuration

• Participate in DR drills for the database tier and validate recovery procedures

• Maintain database runbooks, standard operating procedures and change documentation

Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related disciplines.

• Minimum 3 years of proven experience in managing and supporting enterprise database platforms across both on-premises and cloud environments.

• Strong expertise in database administration, including database provisioning, performance tuning, patch and vulnerability management, backup and recovery, high availability, replication, and disaster recovery.

• Hands-on experience with database security, access control, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and compliance auditing.

• Experience managing middleware platforms such as Apache, Nginx, and IIS, including installation, configuration, patching, and operational support.

• Familiarity with business continuity planning, disaster recovery testing, and recovery validation processes.

• Strong documentation skills with experience maintaining operational runbooks, standard operating procedures, and change management records.

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to support mission-critical production environments.
