About the Role
We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Costing Analyst to support our manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for product costing, inventory management, standard cost maintenance, cost analysis, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, and Plant Management teams to ensure accurate costing information and support strategic business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and validate Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accuracy and completeness prior to release.
- Develop, maintain and analyze product cost structures, including material, labor and overhead components.
- Establish and update standard costs, perform variance analysis, and investigate cost deviations.
- Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, including direct materials, direct labor and factory overhead expenses.
- Investigate and explain material, labor, and overhead variances, providing actionable recommendations to improve cost efficiency.
- Manage inventory closing activities and support periodic stock-taking exercises to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Prepare cost reports, dashboards and financial analyses for management review and decision-making.
- Identify opportunities to enhance cost accounting processes, controls and system efficiencies.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and internal control requirements.
- Partner with Operations and Plant Managers to facilitate periodic updates of standard costs within Bills of Materials and support cost-related initiatives.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects and undertake other ad-hoc assignments as required.
Requirements
- Certificate, Diploma, or Degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Good understanding of manufacturing operations, production processes and supply chain management.
- Experience in standard costing, variance analysis, inventory management, and cost accounting is highly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across different levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Self-motivated, results-oriented and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative team player with a proactive mindset and leadership potential.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems will be an advantage.
