Head of Department, PE & CCA (AWWA School@Napiri)

Primary Objective of Position

Work to achieve AWWA school vision of empowering students to thrive in the community

Job Responsibilities

Curriculum and Instructional Excellence

• Lead in the development of the vision, goals, plans and implementation of PE curriculum & CCA programmes

• Customise curriculum, pedagogy and assessment methods to enhance students’ learning experiences

• Lead the implementation of a framework for monitoring and evaluating instructional programmes, classroom practices and student progress

Mentorship and People Development

• Provide mentorship and training to teaching staff to encourage performance improvement, reflective practice and facilitate skill development

• Facilitate school professional learning teams and network learning communities in the SPED sector

Projects, Pogrammes and Initiatives

• Lead cross-functional teams to plan and implement school or AWWA-wide programmes

• Establish and develop partnerships with stakeholders (e.g. families, community or mainstream partners, allied professionals) to achieve desired outcomes

Organisational Management and Development

• Foster a culture of integrity, professionalism, collaboration and innovation

• Lead the formulation, implementation and evaluation of work plans and initiatives related to ensure alignment with the school’s vision and priorities

• Plan and manage allocated budget and resources

Other Expectations

• Participate in AWWA-wide programmes and initiatives

• Undertake any other relevant duties as and when assigned by the Principal, AWWA CEO or School Management Committee

Job Specifications

Minimum Education / Qualifications

• Bachelor Degree (preferably in Special Education)

Minimum Years of Relevant Experience

• At least 5 years of relevant working experience with at least 2 years in a Senior Teacher position

• Experience working with persons with disabilities is an added advantage
