Job Summary

A Floor Tiler lays, cuts, and finishes tiles on floors to create level, durable, and visually appealing surfaces. You will prepare surfaces, apply adhesives, set tiles to design specifications, and ensure high-quality workmanship in residential, commercial, or industrial projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and clean surfaces by leveling floors, removing old flooring, and filling cracks to ensure proper tile adhesion
• Measure work areas and mark layout lines accurately according to design drawings or patterns
• Cut tiles to size using hand or power tools to fit designated spaces precisely
• Mix and apply mortar, cement, or adhesives to securely fix tiles in place
• Lay tiles evenly with correct spacing and alignment to meet design and quality standards
• Fill gaps and joints with grout and clean excess materials to achieve a smooth finish
• Polish, seal, and finish tiled surfaces to provide a professional and durable appearance
• Repair and replace cracked or damaged tiles to maintain surface integrity
• Inspect all work to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and durability standards
• Maintain tools and keep the work area tidy and safe to support efficient operations

Required competencies and certifications

• BCA CoreTrade – Tiling & Plastering or Certificate of Trade Test (CTT)
• Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) certification for Construction Sites (CSOC)

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Minimum education: Primary or Secondary education
• At least 2–3 years of tiling experience in construction or renovation works
• Understanding of tiling materials, adhesives, and layout patterns
• Ability to read drawings or layout instructions
• Good sense of design, color, and finishing detail
• Physical fitness and manual dexterity
• Attention to detail and precision
• Safety awareness and teamwork
