Job Description

Yard Operation Management

  • Plan, develop, and oversee daily, weekly, and monthly shipyard operations.
  • Coordinate ship repair, maintenance, fabrication, and construction activities.
  • Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Monitor operational performance and implement improvements to maximize productivity.

Project Planning & Execution

  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Repair Managers, and department heads to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Monitor project progress and resolve operational issues affecting delivery.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure workflow efficiency and quality standards are maintained.

Resource & Equipment Management.

  • Manage and optimize the deployment of manpower, cranes, lifting equipment, workshops, vehicles, and other yard assets.
  • Ensure availability and reliability of critical yard equipment through effective maintenance planning.
  • Oversee procurement and inventory to ensure timely availability of materials and consumables.

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Lead the implementation and enforcement of all HSE policies and procedures.
  • Conduct safety audits, risk assessments, inspections, ad incident investigations.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO, MOM, MPA, SCDF, and other applicable regulations.
  • promote a strong safety culture throughout the yard.

Quality Assurance & Compliance.

  • Ensure all repair, fabrication, and maintenance activities comply with client, statutory, and classification requirements.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC teams in inspections, testing, and quality control processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement in quality standards and operational processes.

Facilities & Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee maintenance and upkeep of shipyard infrastructure including workshops, quays and berths, fry docks, cranes and lifting equipment, utilities and support facilities.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime.

Financial & Budget Management

  • Prepare and manage operational budgets.
  • Monitor expenditure, control costs, and improve operational efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising safety, quality, or productivity.
  • support management in forecasting manpower, equipment, and operational requirements.

Leadership & People Development

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor managers, supervisors, engineers, and operational personnel.
  • Establish performance targets and conduct performance reviews.
  • Drive workforce development, succession planning, training, and employee engagement.
  • Foster teamwork, accountability, and high-performance culture

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Engage with vessel owners, clients, contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Address operational issues, customer concerns, and project challenges promptly.
  • Support business growth through excellent service delivery and strong customer relationships.

Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop strategies to improve yard capacity, productivity, safety and profitability.
  • Identify operational risks and implement mitigation measures.
  • Support management in expansion plans, infrastructure upgrades, and business development initiatives.
  • Drive digitalization, automation, and process improvement programs within the yard.

Requirement

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, and SAP Business One (SAP B1).
  • Excellent spoken and written English communication skills.
  • Strong time management, organizational skills, and ability to multitask effectively
  • Team-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently to resolve issues.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the shipyard, maritime, or heavy industrial sector, including at least 5 years in a managerial or supervisory position
  • Proven track record in managing large-scale ship repair, maintenance, conversion, or shipbuilding projects from planning through execution and completion.
  • Strong experience in budgeting, cost control, financial planning, and management of large operational budgets.
  • Practical experience in yard infrastructure maintenance, including dry docks, cranes, lifting equipment, workshops, and other heavy machinery.
