Our client is an established player in the Shipping industry. Keen to hire a Group Financial Controller in Singapore with a mandate to build and scale the finance function from scratch.

Budget

SGD 170,000 – 200,000 base per annum

Requirements

• Degree qualified with more than 10 years of professional experience
• Prior Big 4 audit background
• Strong IFRS technical accounting knowledge and hands-on complex consolidation experience (across JV/equity method, NCI, and multi-currency)
• Ability to build processes and establish finance structure from scratch, comfortable with ambiguity
• Important: Prior experience in small/ mid-size organizations, an ability to work in a lean set-up
• Ability to work independently and across time zones, strong stakeholder management
• Shipping industry exposure can be advantageous

Job Scope

Our client is an international business with a growing global presence across Europe and Asia and is seeking a Financial Controller to establish and lead its finance capabilities. Reporting directly to the Group CFO, this newly created position will serve as the first senior finance professional in Singapore and play a key role in building and shaping the local finance function from the ground up. The successful candidate will oversee entity accounting, statutory reporting, and complex group consolidation activities across multiple jurisdictions, currencies, and ownership structures. Working closely with global stakeholders, the role will also manage areas including joint ventures, equity-accounted investments, non-controlling interests, intercompany reconciliations, and technical accounting matters, while acting as the primary liaison with auditors, banks, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.

This opportunity is suited for a hands-on finance leader who enjoys building, improving, and scaling finance operations. In addition to managing financial reporting requirements, the individual will be instrumental in enhancing finance processes, strengthening controls, and driving consolidation transformation initiatives as the organisation continues to evolve. The successful candidate should have proven experience in managing complex group consolidations within multinational environments. Strong communication skills, commercial maturity, and the ability to operate independently within an international organisation are essential.
