Job Summary

Support primary school children in a student care environment by guiding homework, managing routines, encouraging positive behaviour, and communicating with parents to foster a safe and engaging learning space.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide primary school children in completing daily homework, spelling practice, assessment work, and academic tasks to support their learning progress
• Manage classroom behaviour by maintaining order, setting clear expectations, and encouraging positive conduct among students
• Observe children’s learning, behaviour, emotions, and social interactions to provide positive encouragement aligned with the CAPOR Framework
• Support children with different learning needs, behaviour patterns, and levels of independence through tailored engagement and supervision
• Facilitate simple learning activities, group activities, and daily centre routines to create an engaging and structured environment
• Communicate routine updates effectively to parents, guardians, co-workers, and supervisors to ensure consistent care and information sharing
• Apply basic knowledge of child development, child safety, supervision, and duty of care to maintain a safe and supportive student care setting

Required competencies and certifications

• Minimum Higher NITEC, Diploma, or equivalent qualification

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Certifications or short courses aligned with SkillsFuture frameworks, such as student development, child safety, classroom management, or positive behaviour support
• Experience supervising or engaging primary school children
• Experience communicating with parents or guardians on routine matters
• Exposure to homework guidance, classroom supervision, student routines, or activity facilitation
• Fresh graduates or candidates with strong interest in working with children
