About this job

Responsibilities

  • Lead maritime training and development initiatives for seafaring personnel in line with operational and business needs.

  • Develop and maintain competency frameworks, training matrices and learning plans for different shipboard roles.

  • Coordinate mandatory, technical, safety and professional development training in line with maritime regulations and company standards.

  • Work closely with Marine HR, Fleet, Technical and Safety teams to identify training needs and capability gaps.

  • Support career development and promotion readiness for seafarers through structured learning programmes.

  • Manage external training providers, maritime academies and other learning partners.

  • Promote the use of e-learning, simulation, Workday Learning and other digital training tools to improve learning effectiveness.

  • Monitor training completion, competency development and programme effectiveness using relevant learning data and feedback.

  • Ensure training records and documentation are accurate, updated and ready for audits or compliance reviews.

  • Manage the training budget and recommend improvements to programmes, processes and learning resources.

Requirements

  • Degree in Maritime Studies, Human Resources, Learning & Development, Business, Marine Engineering or a related discipline; maritime professional qualifications would be advantageous.

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience in maritime training, seafarer development, Marine HR, Learning & Development or competency management.

  • Good knowledge of maritime training and regulatory requirements, including STCW; exposure to TMSA and shipboard competency development is preferred.

  • Experience in training needs analysis, competency frameworks, training programmes and LMS platforms, preferably Workday Learning, as well as other digital learning tools.

  • Strong communication, stakeholder management and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across multicultural and operational teams.
