An international bank, is seeking an experienced Trade Finance professional to join its Trade Operations team. The successful candidate will specialise in LC document checking while managing end-to-end trade finance transactions and supporting assigned customer portfolios.
Job Responsibilities
- Perform first- and/or second-level checking of LC documents, including confirmed, back-to-back, front-to-back and other structured LC transactions.
- Manage assigned customer portfolios and support the end-to-end processing of trade finance transactions.
- Review and process Letters of Credit, Standby Letters of Credit, Guarantees, Collections, Bills Discounting and Trade Loans.
- Ensure transactions comply with internal procedures, applicable ICC rules, compliance guidelines and Singapore regulatory requirements.
- Identify documentary discrepancies and work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to resolve them promptly.
- Review back-to-back and front-to-back LC structures, identify mismatches and communicate the associated risks to relevant stakeholders.
- Perform sanctions screening and support controls relating to operational risk, trade fraud and financial crime risks.
- Monitor outstanding transactions, maturity dates, incoming funds and outgoing payments to facilitate timely settlement.
- Serve as the primary operational contact for assigned customers and deliver timely and effective service.
- Collaborate with Relationship Managers, Credit, Compliance and other stakeholders to support seamless transaction processing and risk management.
- Provide technical guidance and document-checking training to junior team members.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives and undertake other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Degree in Finance, Business, Commerce or a related discipline.
- At least five years of relevant experience in LC document checking or trade finance operations.
- Strong knowledge of structured LC transactions, including confirmed, back-to-back and front-to-back LCs.
- Experience handling trade finance products and using relevant processing systems.
- Certified Documentary Credit Specialist certification is preferred.
- Other relevant ICC trade certifications would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with applicable ICC rules and Singapore regulatory requirements.
- Experience in process improvement, LEAN methodology, OCR or AI-related trade finance initiatives would be advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Power BI knowledge would be advantageous.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented, analytical and capable of exercising sound judgement.
- Able to organise priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative team player with integrity, accountability and a customer-focused mindset.
