Job Summary
As a Lead Applications Scientist at Croda, you will lead innovative skin and sun care formulation projects, drive technical investigations, and collaborate across functions to deliver impactful product development aligned with our 2030 Growth Strategy.
Responsibilities
- Design and execute laboratory experiments to develop novel skin and sun care formulations, using data-driven analysis to troubleshoot and guide research progression.
- Lead multiple New Product Development (NPD), Existing Product Development (EPD), and Open Innovation projects independently, ensuring delivery of high-quality technical data and formulations on schedule.
- Provide expert technical support to sales and marketing teams by responding to customer inquiries, recommending products, and delivering technical training internally and during client visits.
- Identify and engage external technology partners to address market needs, managing collaborative innovation projects and facilitating internal stakeholder alignment.
- Translate complex scientific data into clear, actionable insights for diverse business groups including R&D and Sales & Marketing.
- Collaborate effectively within cross-functional, regional, and global teams to influence stakeholders and achieve project milestones.
- Apply strong analytical and critical thinking skills to connect technical insights across technologies and market applications.
- Contribute proactively to high-level business strategy supporting long-term innovation and transformation initiatives.
Required competencies and certifications
- Degree in Chemistry, Biological Chemistry, Cosmetic Science, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in skincare industry formulation, with proven expertise in skin and sun care formulations and application testing methods such as in-vitro SPF, corneometer, and TEWL.
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- MSc or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Demonstrated leadership in managing NPD, EPD, and Open Innovation projects with scientific rigor and innovation focus.
