Our client is a well-established financial institution with a strong presence in the project and corporate finance space. As part of ongoing business requirements, they are seeking a KYC Specialist to support regulatory compliance and client due diligence activities on a 6-month contract basis.
Your new role
As a KYC Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting end-to-end KYC reviews for corporate and project finance clients, as well as counterparty banks. Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing onboarding, periodic reviews, trigger event reviews, and remediation activities
- Conducting Customer Due Diligence (CDD), Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), sanctions screening, and risk assessments
- Reviewing complex ownership and control structures, including sponsors, borrowers, guarantors, shareholders, and beneficial owners
- Assessing customer risk profiles and ensuring KYC documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with internal policies
- Investigating transaction monitoring alerts, closing false positives, and escalating suspicious activities where necessary
- Conducting adverse media, PEP, sanctions, and negative news searches using approved screening tools
- Preparing clear and audit-ready case assessments, documenting findings, rationale, and recommendations
- Maintaining KYC records, monitoring review progress, and supporting remediation and quality assurance exercises
- Collaborating with Front Office, Credit, Operations, and other stakeholders to obtain documentation and resolve KYC-related issues
- Supporting process enhancement initiatives to improve operational efficiency and controls
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you should possess:
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on KYC experience within corporate banking
- Exposure to structured finance or project finance clients will be highly advantageous
- Strong understanding of AML/CFT regulations, KYC requirements, sanctions screening, customer risk assessment, and documentation standards
- Experience reviewing corporate entities, project companies, sponsors, borrowers, guarantors, and related counterparties
- Ability to analyse complex ownership structures and prepare comprehensive KYC assessments
- Strong investigative, analytical, and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment
