Design Manager (Building) Main Contractor

About the Company

A1 Main Contractor with a strong presence in Singapore’s construction industry, delivering large-scale and iconic building developments across commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, institutional, and residential sectors. Due to ongoing project expansion, they are looking for an experienced Design Manager to support and lead project design coordination and management activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the overall design coordination process for building construction projects from pre-construction to completion.
• Coordinate closely with clients, consultants, architects, M&E teams, structural teams, subcontractors, and internal project stakeholders.
• Review design drawings, technical specifications, submissions, and construction details to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Manage design development, authority submissions, technical coordination, and design changes throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify design conflicts, technical issues, and propose practical construction solutions.
• Ensure designs are aligned with construction methodology, project schedule, budget, and buildability requirements.
• Lead design coordination meetings and monitor design progress to ensure timely deliverables.
• Work closely with BIM teams for coordination and clash detection.
• Liaise with authorities and consultants to ensure approvals and compliance with Singapore regulations and standards.
• Support tender activities, value engineering, and project planning where required.
• Mentor and guide design coordinators and project teams.

Requirements

• Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Building, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in building construction projects with Main Contractors.
• Strong experience in design coordination and project management for large-scale building developments.
• Familiar with Singapore BCA regulations, authority submission processes, and construction standards.
• Strong understanding of architectural, structural, and M&E coordination.
• Experience in BIM coordination and design management processes.
