Junior Photographer

The Role

Ask & Embla is looking for a Junior Photographer to support the creative team in delivering consistent, high-quality visual assets across product, e-commerce, and campaign needs. This role is highly executional and hands-on — photography is at the core of what you will do, from product and still life shoots to campaign support. Beyond the camera, this role also involves a significant amount of project management, file organization, image editing, and asset preparation. If you are someone who is equally comfortable behind the camera and behind a screen, takes direction well, and has the initiative to think ahead without being asked, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

Photography and Visual Production

• Shoot product, still life, and basic lifestyle content for e-commerce, social, and marketing needs
• Assist on editorial and campaign shoots, supporting both photo and video setups
• Ensure all visual outputs meet brand standards for lighting, framing, and consistency
• Understand and apply e-commerce photography principles, including image enhancement for commercial purposes, to ensure products are presented clearly and accurately for customers

Post-Production and Editing

• Edit and retouch photos using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, including skin retouching, product detail enhancement, color correction, and DI
• Perform image enhancements as directed to ensure products look their best for website and selling purposes
• Organize and archive digital files across relevant drives in a clean, structured manner
• Prepare assets for internal handover with clean exports, correct specs, and organized file naming

Project Management and Asset Coordination

• Manage and track the status of photography assets across product launches and campaigns
• Coordinate file organization across shared drives and update relevant trackers and sheets
• Prepare images for review stages and ensure timely handovers to relevant teams
• Proactively flag upcoming tasks and deadlines without being prompted, staying ahead of the production timeline
• Liaise with the creative team to ensure all files are organized and set up for reviews

Collaboration

• Work closely with creative and marketing teams to understand and execute the creative vision
• Take direction and feedback openly and apply it quickly, understanding that e-commerce photography has specific commercial requirements that may differ from traditional photography
• Collaborate with Product Design, Product Development, and Merchandising teams for clarity on product details and launch timelines
• Maintain and care for photography equipment, cameras, lenses, and lighting gear, and keep the studio space clean and organized

Who You Are

• Diploma or degree in Photography, Visual Arts, or a related field preferred; fresh graduates from Lasalle or equivalent institutions are welcome
• 1 to 2 years of experience in still life or product photography, including internships or freelance work
• Proficient with DSLR or mirrorless cameras and studio lighting equipment
• Strong understanding of composition, lighting, and color theory
• Proficient in Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom, and Capture One
• Comfortable with e-commerce image enhancement and understands that commercial photography sometimes requires manipulating images to meet selling standards
• Comfortable with the reality that this role involves substantial admin and project management work alongside photography, including file organization, asset tracking, and coordination across teams
• Strong project management and organizational skills. You can juggle multiple assets and deadlines without things slipping
• Proactive and initiative-driven, you think ahead and flag tasks before being asked
• Open to feedback and direction, you do not take creative input personally and you iterate quickly
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work at pace in a fast-moving environment
