About the Role
We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Chinese Speech Enrichment Teacher (Part-Time) to join our public speaking and communication centre. The ideal candidate will conduct Mandarin Speech & Drama, Public Speaking, and Oral Communication classes for children aged 3 to 16 years old.
This position focuses on developing students’ spoken fluency, confidence, and speech crafting abilities — including skills relevant to Chinese writing, oral examinations, and structured speech presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and conduct interactive Chinese Speech & Drama, Public Speaking, and Oral Communication lessons for preschool and primary levels.
- Teach speech crafting skills – including speech structure, argument development, persuasive techniques, and vocabulary enrichment.
- Reinforce communication skills aligned with MOE Chinese Paper 2 components, such as picture discussion, personal response, and situational conversation.
- Prepare students for performances, storytelling sessions, oral showcases, and speech competitions.
- Use creative and structured lesson methods to make learning fun, effective, and confidence-building.
- Manage a class of 10–12 children effectively, maintaining engagement and discipline in an encouraging atmosphere.
- Organise outdoor learning sessions, such as impromptu speaking challenges or community visits (e.g. to elderly homes).
- Collaborate with other trainers to design lesson plans, training resources, and performance materials.
- Provide parents with regular progress updates and feedback on their child’s learning journey.
Requirements
- Minimum Diploma or Degree in Chinese Language, Education, Early Childhood, Linguistics, Performing Arts, or related discipline.
- Strong command of spoken and written Mandarin (bilingual ability preferred).
- Experience in teaching Chinese speech, writing, or oral communication for preschool or primary levels.
- Knowledge of Chinese Paper 2 components (Oral and Situational Writing) and ability to integrate these into fun, speech-based lessons.
- Enthusiastic about helping children express ideas clearly, confidently, and creatively in Mandarin.
- Skilled in classroom management, creative teaching, and performance coaching.
- Able to teach on weekdays
Preferred Experience
- Experience in speech and drama, Chinese composition or oral teaching, or language enrichment programmes.
- Prior experience preparing students for speech competitions, storytelling, or MOE oral exams.
- Exposure to outdoor experiential learning, community-based projects, or student leadership training is an advantage.
