The Repair & Life Extension Superintendent is responsible for leading the engineering and execution activities associated with the repair, refurbishment, life extension, and redeployment of Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facilities. The role provides technical leadership, project oversight, and stakeholder management to ensure that work is executed safely, efficiently, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory require-ments.
The Superintendent leads a multidisciplinary engineering team throughout the construction and life extension phases, ensuring successful delivery of project objectives while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities: -
Project Leadership
• Lead and manage a team of engineers responsible for FPSO repair, refurbishment, life ex-tension, and redeployment activities.
• Provide technical guidance and leadership throughout the engineering and construction phases.
• Ensure project milestones, schedules, budgets, and quality objectives are achieved.
• Drive a collaborative, high-performance team culture focused on continuous improvement.
Engineering & Construction Management
• Coordinate engineering activities to support construction, commissioning, and redeploy-ment.
• Review, approve, and monitor engineering deliverables and work packs to ensure compli-ance with project requirements.
• Ensure construction activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with ap-proved procedures.
• Monitor construction progress and proactively identify risks, delays, and opportunities for improvement.
• Resolve technical and operational issues affecting project execution.
Stakeholder Management
• Act as the primary engineering interface with clients, project management teams, subcon-tractors, and internal stakeholders.
• Chair regular progress meetings and technical reviews.
• Communicate project status, key risks, and mitigation strategies to senior management and clients.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with all project stakeholders.
Planning & Progress Reporting
• Develop and maintain project execution plans aligned with project objectives.
• Monitor engineering and construction progress against schedule.
• Prepare detailed progress reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and cli-ent review.
• Ensure accurate reporting of project performance indicators.
Budget & Cost Control
• Monitor project expenditure against approved budgets.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and schedule requirements.
• Forecast engineering resource requirements and project costs.
• Support commercial teams in evaluating variations and claims.
• Change & Scope Management
• Manage engineering changes through the formal Management of Change (MoC) process.
• Prepare and process change requests and variation documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of scope changes and ensure appropriate approvals are obtained.
• Update construction scope to reflect evolving project requirements.
Safety, Quality & Compliance
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company HSE policies.
• Ensure engineering and construction activities comply with applicable industry codes, standards, and legislation.
• Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
• Support quality assurance and quality control processes throughout project execution.
Qualifications:-
• 10+ years of offshore oil & gas or FPSO project experience.
• Proven experience delivering major repair, refurbishment, or life extension projects.
• Experience managing engineering teams on complex offshore assets.
• Experience working with EPC/EPCI contractors and client organisations.
• Strong knowledge of offshore construction practices, HSE requirements, and project con-trols.
• HNC or equivalent qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation & Control or related discipline).
• Significant experience in FPSO, offshore oil & gas, marine, or heavy industrial projects.
• Extensive experience leading repair, refurbishment, brownfield modifications, or life exten-sion projects.
• Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of offshore construction, commissioning, and project execution.
