Job Role:
A driver's primary role is to safely transport patients, staff, and sometimes goods in an ambulance. They must follow road safety regulations, maintain a clean driving record, and assist with vehicle maintenance. Additional duties may include responding to calls, assisting with patient transfers, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
To competently handle both stable patients for discharge, transfer, appointments & dialysis, as well as patients suffering or believed to be suffering from an injury or condition of acute or sudden onset and of emergency nature on time & without delays
To assess & monitor patients’ conditions & provide the necessary pre-hospital care, including but not limited to, supplemental oxygen, dressing of wounds, stopping of bleeding, bandaging & stabilization of fractures etc. To perform ambulance standby during events attentively and diligently.
To read and understand all AMS’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and follow the SOP diligently.
To ensure orderliness and cleanliness of the vehicle throughout the day, including wiping down your vehicle after each case (or anytime as the needs arise) and regular washing of the vehicle.
To check and ensure that the first aid items and equipment in vehicle are completely stocked and in good working order daily.
Drivers are to hand over their Ambulance to another driver to perform duties anytime upon request by the coordinator(s). Drivers & Medics partnership are determined by the coordinators, no personal preferences are allowed.
To issue in full detail & accuracy, the AMS Casualty Records, AMS Service Forms or Tax-Receipts to clients.
To have professional conduct, including wearing proper uniform, socks & shoes and having good teamwork, behavior & caring attitude towards patients, families, nurses, organizers & colleagues. To submit medical certificates, leave forms and time sheets on time.
Requirements & Qualifications
Class 3 driving license
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to excellent customer service
Willingness to work flexible hours with benefits provided for extra hours worked
Full vaccination against COVID-19 due to the high-risk nature of the position
For Ambulance Drivers, the Defensive Driving Certification and BCLS Certification will be a requirement. Applicants who do not have such certifications will be sent for the course
