Middle School – Science Teacher

The Middle School Science Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality Science instruction to middle school students following the Cambridge curriculum. The role requires strong subject knowledge across key areas of Science, while developing students’ scientific thinking, inquiry, problem-solving and analytical skills. The teacher will create engaging and differentiated learning experiences that encourage students to explore scientific concepts and apply their knowledge to real-world contexts.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Cambridge Science curriculum to middle school students through engaging, structured and differentiated lessons.
• Plan and deliver high-quality Science lessons that develop students’ conceptual understanding, scientific reasoning, inquiry and problem-solving skills.
• Develop students’ ability to apply scientific concepts to practical experiments, real-world situations and unfamiliar problems.
• Teach key areas of Science, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics, appropriate to the students’ level and curriculum requirements.
• Plan and conduct practical investigations, experiments and laboratory activities in accordance with school safety procedures.
• Adapt teaching strategies, resources and assessments to meet different learning abilities and attainment levels.
• Monitor, assess and provide constructive feedback on students’ academic progress and learning development.
• Maintain effective classroom management and create a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, school activities and other duties assigned by the school.

Required Competencies and Certifications

• Hold a recognised teaching qualification, such as QTS, PGCE with appropriate teaching status or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Possess a degree in Science, Science Education, Education with a specialisation in Science or a closely related field.
• Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach Science at middle school level.
• Possess knowledge across relevant areas of Science, including Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
• Demonstrate the ability to plan and deliver practical investigations and laboratory activities safely and effectively.
• Demonstrate strong classroom management, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction and support students with different learning abilities and attainment levels.
• A strong interest in developing students’ scientific curiosity, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
