This position is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of three months.
Job Overview:
- As a Subject Matter Expert for Collateral Management, you will ensure the accurate, complete, and timely execution of collateral management activities that support Financial Markets transactions and help mitigate credit risk.
- You will oversee daily margin call calculations, notifications, and agreements with counterparties, as well as the administration of collateral given or received. You will also support the registration, analysis, and initial follow-up of disputes between ING and counterparties.
- The role also requires managing escalations related to collateral management issues, queries, failed settlements, and process exceptions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and execute daily collateral management processes accurately and on time, in line with ING’s obligations under legal documentation frameworks such as CSA, GMSLA, and GMRA.
- Resolve margin disputes with counterparties under GMRA and GMSLA, escalating complex disputes and failed collateral settlements to the Amsterdam expert team after proper analysis.
- Engage with external counterparties, including risk managers and traders, and collaborate with internal stakeholders across relevant functions.
- Review processing procedures and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, control, and service quality.
- Prepare and send monthly interest and fee statements to counterparties.
- Calculate and negotiate monthly interest or fees on collateral given or held.
- Review and approve collateral movements and monthly interest bookings prepared by junior processors.
- Prepare reports and approved ad hoc requests accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Coach and train junior team members through structured guidance and one-on-one support.
- Perform Team Lead tasks and activities when required.
Key Capabilities and Experience
- Experience in Financial Markets, Credit Risk Management, or Collateral Management.
- Strong understanding of collateralized products, financial markets instruments, market practices, risk, securities life cycle, and process flows.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and dispute-resolution skills.
- Professional communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with internal stakeholders and external counterparties.
- High level of accuracy, accountability, and attention to detail.
- Ability to organize work effectively, manage priorities, and deliver within deadlines.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to coach, support, and work effectively with team members.
- Adaptability and readiness to support process improvements and change initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- College graduate from a recognized tertiary institution, or equivalent professional experience.
- At least 4–6 years of relevant experience in Financial Markets, Credit Risk Management, and/or Collateral Management.
- Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and Access.
- Understanding of legal documentation related to collateralized products.
- Understanding of financial markets instruments.
- Awareness of market practices, risk, securities life cycle, and product process flows.
- Relevant certification, training, or tertiary qualification is an advantage.
- Experience using Bloomberg is an advantage.
