Occupational Therapists - WCAN

Responsibilities for Occupational Therapists:

• Deliver high-quality occupational therapy services as part of a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team.
• Assess clients and develop individualized care plans with appropriate treatment goals.
• Provide occupational therapy interventions for patients in inpatient wards.
• Plan and implement therapy programmes for clients with dementia, psychiatric conditions, musculoskeletal disorders, and neurological conditions.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team during case discussions and progress review meetings.
• Supervise Therapy Assistants (TAs), volunteers, and Occupational Therapists under conditional registration.
• Provide training, guidance, and mentorship to Therapy Assistants, caregivers, and junior Occupational Therapists.
• Support the education and professional development of the rehabilitation team on occupational therapy-related practices.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and research projects to enhance patient care and service delivery.

Qualifications for Occupational Therapists:

• Recognized Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
• Full registration with the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC) is required.
• Preferably at least 3 years of relevant clinical experience.
• Passionate about working with elderly patients, particularly those with neurological, musculoskeletal, or mental health conditions.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills.
