R&D Cake Specialist

Job Summary
We are looking for a hands-on and creative R&D Cake Specialist to develop, test and improve cake products while supporting daily production needs. The role will specialize in cake development and work closely with the Manager and production team to ensure product quality, consistency and smooth implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and test new cake products, flavors, fillings, creams and decorations based on market trends and customer preferences.
• Conduct product trials and refine recipes to achieve the desired taste, texture, appearance and consistency.
• Be hands-on in production and assist with daily cake production when required.
• Improve existing cake products and production processes to enhance quality and efficiency.
• Prepare and maintain standardized recipes, product specifications and production procedures.
• Conduct product costing and monitor ingredient usage to ensure cost efficiency.
• Troubleshoot production and product quality issues and recommend practical solutions.
• Work closely with the production team to ensure new products can be produced consistently and efficiently.
• Assist the Manager in R&D projects, production planning, product trials and other operational matter.
• Support seasonal, promotional and customized cake development.
• Ensure all products meet food safety, hygiene and company quality standards.

Job Requirements:

• Diploma/ Certificate in Pastry, Baking, Culinary Arts or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in cake production and/ or R&D.
• Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in cake mixing, decoration, fillings and finishing techniques.
• Creative, detail-oriented and passionate about cake development.
• Comfortable working hands-on in a production environment.
• Able to work independently while supporting the Manager and production team.
• Good understanding of recipe standardization, costing and production processes.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines.
• Team player who is approachable, cooperative and able to work closely with the production team to achieve production targets and product quality standards.
