Surrey Hills Grocer is an expanding F&B group inspired by the spirit of Australian hospitality, offering a unique combination of café, restaurant and grocer concepts. As we continue to grow our portfolio and operations, we are looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Finance team and play a key role in strengthening our financial reporting, cost management and business performance.

About the Role

The Accountant will oversee the Group's accounting and financial operations while working closely with Operations, Procurement, Business Development and Management. The role is ideal for someone who is commercially minded, analytical and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-outlet F&B environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle the full set of accounts, including AP, AR, GL and bank reconciliations, and support month-end and year-end closing.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow reports and variance analysis for Management review.
• Manage treasury functions, including cash flow monitoring, bank balances, payment scheduling and cash flow forecasting.
• Assist with annual budgeting and financial forecasting, and monitor actual performance against budget.
• Analyse outlet-level financial performance, profitability and key cost indicators, identifying significant variances and areas for improvement.
• Monitor food, beverage, labour, inventory and operating costs, including stock variances, wastage and write-offs.
• Oversee procurement cost control and review vendor invoices, supplier pricing and expenses for accuracy and budget compliance.
• Work closely with Operations and Procurement to identify cost-saving opportunities and improve outlet profitability.
• Support Business Development and Events Sales teams on project costing, pricing and profitability analysis.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax agents, banks and relevant stakeholders on financial and statutory matters.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, statutory requirements and internal controls.
• Provide financial insights and recommendations to support Management's business planning, decision-making and expansion.

Requirements

• Diploma/Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Minimum 2–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in F&B, hospitality, retail or a multi-outlet environment.
• Strong experience in full-set accounting, month-end closing and financial reporting.
• Experience in P&L analysis, budgeting, forecasting and cost control.
• F&B experience with exposure to food costing, inventory or outlet-level P&L will be an advantage.
• Strong analytical skills with good attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems.
• Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent qualification is an advantage.
