Healthcare Assistant - WCAN

Responsibilities for Healthcare Assistant:

• Ensure patient safety and provide care support under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
• Assist patients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, oral care, nail care, and elimination needs.
• Support patient mobility, including transfers, repositioning, and mobilisation as required.
• Provide van escort assistance to support patient transportation to and from the Hospice.
• Monitor and record patients’ vital signs, including weight, temperature, and blood pressure.
• Support patients’ dietary needs by assisting with meal ordering, serving meals and beverages, and feeding assistance when required.
• Manage food pantry operations, including food storage, stock monitoring, and ensuring food safety standards.
• Maintain infection control standards through proper hand hygiene, waste disposal, standard precautions, and isolation practices.
• Assist with administrative tasks including data entry, documentation, and filing.
• Observe and promptly report patients’ conditions and changes to the Registered Nurse.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised patient care environment.
• Uphold patient confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism.
• Keep updated with relevant healthcare guidelines and continuously develop job-related skills.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, Registered Nurse, or Day Care Manager.

Qualifications for Healthcare Assistant:

• Minimum GCE 'O' Level or Certificate in Healthcare Assistant
• At least 2 years of relevant experience as a Patient Care Assistant
• Passionate about delivering quality patient care and support.
• Strong sense of responsibility with a compassionate, patient-focused, and courteous approach.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
