VP - Lead PMO

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Vice President (VP) – PMO Lead to drive enterprise-wide project governance, transformation initiatives, and portfolio management across our retail banking organization. This leadership role will be responsible for establishing and enhancing Project Management Office (PMO) capabilities, ensuring successful delivery of strategic programs, regulatory initiatives, digital transformation projects, and business change initiatives.
The successful candidate will partner with senior executives, business leaders, technology teams, and external stakeholders to ensure effective planning, execution, governance, and realization of strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
PMO Leadership & Governance
- Lead and oversee the Bank's Project Management Office (PMO) and project portfolio.
- Define, implement, and continuously improve PMO frameworks, methodologies, standards, and governance processes.
- Establish portfolio management practices, project controls, and performance reporting.
- Ensure alignment of strategic initiatives with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
Portfolio & Program Management
- Manage a portfolio of complex, cross-functional transformation and business initiatives.
- Monitor project performance, risks, dependencies, and resource allocation.
- Drive successful delivery of projects within scope, budget, timeline, and quality expectations.
- Establish prioritization frameworks to optimize investment and resource utilization.
Strategic Transformation
- Support the execution of the Bank's strategic roadmap and transformation agenda.
- Lead enterprise-wide initiatives including digital transformation, operational excellence, process optimization, and regulatory projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve project delivery capabilities and organizational effectiveness.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner closely with Executive Management, Business Heads, Risk, Compliance, Operations, and Technology teams.
- Provide regular portfolio reporting and strategic insights to senior leadership and governance committees.
- Facilitate executive decision-making through data-driven analysis and recommendations.
Risk & Compliance Oversight
- Ensure projects comply with banking regulations, internal policies, and risk management standards.
- Monitor and escalate critical risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Support audit, compliance, and regulatory reviews related to project delivery.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop PMO managers, project managers, and business analysts.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Build organizational project management capabilities through coaching and best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 12-15 years of experience in project, program, or portfolio management.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience managing enterprise PMO functions within banking or financial services.
- Proven track record of delivering large-scale transformation and strategic initiatives.
- Strong understanding of banking operations, risk management, regulatory environments, and governance frameworks.
- Excellent stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
Preferred
- Master's degree (MBA or equivalent).
- PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, Agile, SAFe, or equivalent project management certification.
- Experience in digital banking, core banking transformation, regulatory programs, and enterprise change management.
- Knowledge of portfolio management tools and project governance systems.
