About this job
We are looking for an experienced Senior Purchaser for an established international maritime company. The incumbent will be responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement of technical supplies, spare parts and services for assigned vessels, ensuring that vessel requirements are fulfilled in a timely and cost-effective manner.
The ideal candidate would have at least 5 years of relevant marine purchasing/procurement experience within a ship management or maritime environment. He/she should have strong knowledge of marine spare parts and vessel procurement processes, with good negotiation, vendor management and stakeholder coordination skills.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end procurement of spare parts, stores, consumables and services for assigned vessels.
Source and evaluate quotations based on price, quality, availability and delivery requirements.
Negotiate with suppliers and issue purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.
Monitor outstanding orders and ensure timely delivery of supplies and spares to vessels.
Handle urgent vessel requirements and coordinate closely with Technical Superintendents and vessel personnel.
Manage supplier relationships and monitor vendor performance.
Coordinate with suppliers, agents and logistics providers on vessel deliveries.
Maintain accurate procurement records, verify invoices and support cost-control requirements.
Qualifications
Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Engineering or a related discipline.
At least 5 years of relevant marine purchasing/procurement experience, preferably within a ship management company or similar maritime environment.
Strong knowledge of marine spare parts, technical stores, consumables and vessel procurement processes.
Experience handling procurement requirements for multiple vessels independently.
Good commercial awareness with strong sourcing, negotiation and vendor management skills.
Familiarity with maritime procurement/ERP systems would be advantageous.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Strong organisational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple vessel requirements and urgent requests.
Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with vessels, Technical Superintendents, suppliers and other stakeholders.
Detail-oriented, resourceful and able to work independently in a fast-paced maritime environment.
