IT Manager - Freight Technology

You are responsible for defining,developing, and managing the technology products that support freightforwarding, transportation, and logistics operations across the organization. You serve as the bridge between business operations, technology teams, andexternal partners to deliver digital solutions that improve operationalefficiency, shipment visibility, customer experience, data-driven decisionmaking, and business growth.

You own the end-to-end productlifecycle of freight technology platforms, including Freight ForwardingSystems, Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Freight Billing Systems,Customer Portals, Track & Trace solutions, Customs Integration platforms,Analytics Dashboards, API ecosystems, and AI-driven automation capabilities. You drive digital transformation initiatives by translating business requirements into technology solutions, managing product roadmaps, leadingsystem enhancements, implementing automation and AI capabilities, and ensuringsolutions remain scalable, secure, reliable, and aligned with organizationalobjectives.

Responsibilities

Freight System Architecture & Roadmap
•Design and maintain comprehensive system architecture diagrams for the freightecosystem
•Define the technical roadmap, aligning engineering initiatives with long-termbusiness goals like scalability and digital transformation.

Freight Operations Digitalisation & Automation
•Translate business requirements into comprehensive system narratives andtechnical design specifications
•Provide developers and vendors with detailed blueprints, including databaseschema designs (tables, columns, data types), UI/UX mockups, mapping logic,validation/error-handling rules, and audit logging frameworks

Data Analytics, AI & Automation Engineering
•Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and automated reports toprovide logistics stakeholders with real-time visibility into freightperformance, operational bottlenecks, and financial KPIs.
•Manage the end-to-end AI lifecycle, including the independent design, build,and production deployment of intelligent agents to automate manual freightprocesses.

Systems Integration & Technology Ecosystem Management
•Oversee integration with 3rd-party logistics platforms, ERP systems (e.g.,SAP), and freight vendors, managing technical relationships and SLAs.
•Define and track critical technical and business KPIs (e.g., system uptime,API response times).
•Conduct post-implementation audits to measure operational improvements

Stakeholder & Business Partnership Management
•Use data-driven scoring systems (e.g., RICE or WSJF) to prioritize the team'sworkload and balance new features against maintenance, security, and stabilityrequirements.
•Bridge the gap between freight operations and engineering by deconstructingcomplex needs (e.g., customs compliance, real-time tracking) into actionableuser stories and technical specs

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, IT, or a related field.
• 7–10 years in product management, with at least 3 years in a technical role within logistics or freight forwarding.
• Industry certifications such as PMP, CSPO, CSCP is an advantage.
• Background in Supply Chain, Logistics, freight operations environment or as a oftware developer/data engineer environments is an advantage
• Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and like to hands on experimentation of emerging technology
• Ability to lead technical transitions, including staff training, system migrations, and "go-live" support projects.
• Able to execute RFP/RFI processes for selecting vendors, focusing on technical flexibility and long-term supportability.
• High level of expertise in Jira/Confluence for managing backlogs and cross-team dependencies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and digital skills, with interest in AI-driven logistics / supply chain.
• Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement abilities across internal and external partners.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
• Detail-oriented with a proactive, hands-on approach.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
• Ability to lead cross-functional coordination and continuous-improvement / change management projects.
