Maintenance Engineer - Robotic Systems

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance on industrial robot arms and automated production equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose robot arm faults, electrical issues, mechanical problems and automation-related failures.
  • Identify root causes of recurring robot and equipment breakdowns and implement corrective actions.
  • Monitor robot performance and equipment downtime to improve machine reliability and availability.
  • Carry out robot arm setup, calibration, programming adjustments and parameter checks where required.
  • Support installation, commissioning and integration of new robotic equipment and automation systems.
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering and Maintenance teams to resolve equipment and process issues.
  • Troubleshoot robot controllers, sensors, actuators, motors, drives, PLC interfaces and other automation components.
  • Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance according to established maintenance schedules.
  • Support equipment modification, upgrading and automation improvement projects.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, spare parts and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is carried out in accordance with LOTO and workplace safety requirements.
  • Assist in managing critical robot spare parts and maintenance components.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to maintenance technicians.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, TPM, 5S and equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Support production during urgent breakdowns and provide on-call assistance when required.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics or a related discipline.
  • 3–8 years of relevant experience in robot maintenance, industrial automation, equipment maintenance or manufacturing engineering.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting industrial robot arms.
  • Experience with robot controllers, teach pendants, servo motors, drives, sensors and automation systems.
  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical and automation systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and control circuit diagrams.
  • Experience with PLC systems and industrial automation will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems will be an advantage.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and troubleshooting of production equipment.
  • Strong hands-on troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as collaborate with production and engineering teams.
