Operations Associate (Accounting & Investment Operations) - 6 months contract

ROLE OVERVIEW
Our client, a family office, is seeking an Operations Associate to support its accounting, payment-processing and investment-administration activities.
This is a hands-on role requiring the successful candidate to perform detailed accounting and administrative work while independently managing assigned responsibilities from end to end. The position involves working closely with internal stakeholders, banks, custodians, accountants and other external service providers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform accounting data entry and maintain complete and accurate financial records using QuickBooks.
- Process vendor and other payments, ensuring that the relevant documents and approvals are in place.
- Support the consolidation and monitoring of assets, cash flows, expenses and other financial information.
- Assist with monthly and quarterly financial and operational reporting.
- Monitor expenses against approved budgets and assist with cash-flow forecasting.
- Perform bank, custodian and general-ledger reconciliations.
- Investigate discrepancies and follow through on outstanding accounting and operational matters.
- Maintain investment records across asset classes such as equities, fixed income and hedge funds.
- Liaise with banks, custodians, external accountants, auditors and other service providers.
- Organise and maintain supporting documents, transaction records and operational files.
- Handle confidential financial and personal information with discretion.
- Provide general accounting, operational and administrative support to the team.
- Perform other duties according to operational requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
- At least five years of relevant experience in accounting, audit, investment operations, financial-services administration or family-office operations.
- Practical experience in accounting data entry, payment processing and account reconciliation.
- Experience using QuickBooks or a comparable accounting system is preferred.
- Foundational understanding of investment products and asset classes, including equities, fixed income and hedge funds.
- Strong numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Able to manage assigned responsibilities independently and follow tasks through to completion.
- Comfortable performing both accounting and administrative duties.
- Able to work effectively within a small team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to commit to the full six-month contract.
