NPI Engineer / Assistant Engineer

Overall Purpose
To lead and support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities within the cleanroom manufacturing environment by developing, qualifying, and optimizing plating and cleaning processes that meet customer and quality requirements. The role is also responsible for ensuring compliance with Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) regulations, maintaining a safe workplace, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, operational efficiency, and manufacturing performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, and Customers) to define suitable materials, chemicals, and plating parameters to meet product specifications and quality requirements for new product introduction (NPI).
- Support NPI builds by developing, validating, and optimizing plating and cleaning processes to ensure manufacturability, process stability, and successful mass production ramp-up.
- Lead or support troubleshooting of process and quality issues during NPI stages, ensuring timely containment, root cause analysis, and implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Perform process characterization, in-process monitoring, and final quality inspections, including surface finish evaluation, thickness measurement, and visual inspection according to specifications, control plans, and work instructions.
- Establish and maintain robust process controls, contamination prevention measures, and cleanroom best practices to ensure consistent product quality and high yield performance.
- Provide technical support and training to production operators on plating process control, defect prevention, and cleanroom handling practices.
- Oversee equipment setup, qualification, and maintenance for electroplating and cleaning processes, ensuring compliance with process requirements, safety standards, and chemical handling procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, reduce defects, and enhance process capability during NPI and production ramp-up phases.
- Ensure strict compliance with cleanroom protocols, environmental regulations, safety standards, and company Quality Management System (QMS) requirements.
- Participate in process qualification activities, internal audits, customer audits, and product validation as part of new product deliverables.
- Support cost and productivity improvement initiatives to enhance overall manufacturing efficiency.
- Support in cleanroom inventory improvement and production arrangement.
- Any other ad-hoc duties
