Job Summary
The Service Technician is responsible for carrying out preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs, and general technical works to ensure the smooth and reliable operation of building facilities and equipment.
The role requires a hands-on individual who can respond promptly to maintenance requests, identify faults, perform repairs, and ensure that all systems and facilities are maintained in safe and good working condition.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine preventive and corrective maintenance on building facilities and equipment.
- Attend to maintenance requests and troubleshoot technical faults in a timely manner.
- Perform basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing, sanitary, lighting, and general building repair works.
- Conduct basic maintenance and troubleshooting of air-conditioning and ventilation systems.
- Inspect facilities and equipment regularly to identify defects, wear and tear, or potential safety concerns.
- Carry out minor repairs and replacement of switches, sockets, lighting components, plumbing fittings, fixtures, door hardware, and related equipment.
- Support the maintenance of pumps, motors, water systems, electrical systems, and other M&E equipment.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and maintain proper service and maintenance records.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns and assist in restoring affected systems promptly.
- Liaise with contractors and vendors and assist in supervising maintenance and repair works when required.
- Ensure tools, equipment, workshops, and work areas are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
- Follow workplace safety procedures, permit-to-work requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Provide professional and courteous support when attending to maintenance requests from building occupants and users.
- Perform shift duties, including weekends and public holidays, where required.
- Carry out other technical and maintenance duties assigned by the Engineering or Facilities Supervisor.
Requirements
- NITEC / Higher NITEC / Diploma or equivalent technical qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Building Services, Facilities Management, Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a commercial, residential, facilities, or similar building environment.
- Practical knowledge of general building maintenance, including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, and air-conditioning systems.
- Able to troubleshoot common equipment and building-services faults.
- Comfortable using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and maintenance equipment.
- Basic understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Able to work independently and as part of a technical team.
- Good communication skills and a service-oriented attitude.
- Physically fit and comfortable carrying out hands-on maintenance work.
- Willing to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays where required.
