About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and business minded Assistant Procurement Manager to support the leadership of our Purchasing &Shipping Department. The successful candidate will assist the Purchasing and Shipping Manager to oversee procurement, inventory planning, supplier management, and logistics activities while working closely with Sales, Finance, Logistics and Warehouse teams to ensure uninterrupted supply and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage procurement activities with local and overseas suppliers.
- Negotiate pricing, commercial terms, and delivery schedules to achieve cost-effective purchasing outcomes.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, principals, manufacturers, and logistics partners.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate inventory replenishment to support business requirements.
- Work closely with Sales and Operations teams on demand planning and inventory forecasting.
- Oversee inbound and outbound shipments, freight arrangements, and shipping documentation.
- Monitor supplier performance and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support cost reduction, sourcing, and supply chain optimisation projects.
- Liaise with Finance on supplier invoices, payment schedules, and account reconciliation.
- Supervise and mentor procurement team members while supporting departmental development.
- Prepare procurement, inventory, and supply chain reports for Management.
Job Requirements
- Minimum Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, logistics, or supply chain management or proven track record in relevant field.
- Proven experience in supplier negotiation, sourcing, and inventory management.
- Experience working with overseas suppliers, import/export shipments, and freight coordination.
- Strong commercial acumen, analytical skills, and negotiation ability.
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members.
- Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Team player and strong individual contributor.
