Technology Lead
About this job
The Technology Lead is a hands-on contributor to the Group's technology platforms, working closely with and under the guidance of the Head of Technology / CTO. You will help build, maintain, and improve our products (e.g. EduVault, internal LMS, internal automated processes, and admin tools), and support day-to-day work on our Azure cloud environment. This role suits someone with around five years of full-stack engineering experience who wants to keep building strong technical fundamentals while contributing to real, production platforms.
Key Responsibilities
• Development
o Build and maintain features across the stack using TypeScript, for both back-end services and front-end applications.
o Develop and support APIs/services using a TypeScript back-end framework such as NestJS, ExpressJS, or ElysiaJS (or equivalent), including routing, authentication, and error handling.
o Build and maintain front-end features with SvelteKit (or a similar framework), including SSR, routing, form handling, and API integration.
o Translate tickets and requirements from PRDs into working code, under the direction of senior engineers or the Head of Technology.
• Cloud &Infrastructure Support
o Support day-to-day operations on our Microsoft Azure environment (app hosting, storage, and basic networking), under senior guidance.
o Assist with infrastructure changes using Terraform (or similar IaC tooling), following established patterns.
o Help monitor and maintain our Cloudflare setup (DNS, CDN, SSL/TLS) and flag issues to senior team members.
o Participate in monitoring, incident response, and basic troubleshooting of production issues as part of the team.
• Quality, Security& Collaboration
o Follow secure coding practices covering authentication, data handling, and error handling.
o Support access and data-protection practices within Microsoft 365 (e.g. SharePoint, One Drive, Teams) as guided by IT and the Head of Technology.
o Participate in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback, to help maintain code quality.
o Communicate progress, blockers, and technical questions clearly to the Head of Technology and wider team.
Requirements
• Around 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience, ideally full-stack.
• Working experience with TypeScript across both back-end and front-end development.
• Practical experience with at least one TypeScript back-end framework (NestJS, ExpressJS, or ElysiaJS) and one front-end/full-stack framework (SvelteKit or similar).
• Some working exposure to Microsoft Azure (or another major cloud provider) — app hosting, storage, and basic networking concepts.
• Basic familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (e.g. Terraform) is an advantage, though not required
