We are seeking an experienced Singapore Tax professional to join our leadership team. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to succeed the current Tax Director.
The Tax Manager will be responsible for leading the Tax Services Department in delivering high-quality tax compliance, advisory and business consulting services to clients. The successful candidate will play a key leadership role in managing the department, developing the tax practice, mentoring team members and supporting the firm's strategic growth. This position forms part of the firm's leadership succession plan, with the opportunity to assume the role of Tax Director.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead and manage the firm's Singapore tax practice covering Corporate Income Tax, Individual Income Tax, Partnership Tax, Goods & Services Tax (GST), Withholding Tax and Stamp Duty.
- Review complex tax computations, tax returns and related filings to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with IRAS regulations.
- Provide tax advisory services on business restructuring, mergers & acquisitions, cross-border taxation, transfer pricing, tax incentives and other specialised tax matters.
- Represent clients in tax audits, investigations, objections, voluntary disclosures and negotiations with IRAS.
Client Relationship Management
- Manage and expand a portfolio of corporate, SME, multinational and high-net-worth clients.
- Develop long-term trusted adviser relationships with key clients.
- Identify clients' business needs and provide practical, commercially focused tax solutions.
- Work closely with the Audit, Corporate Advisory, Corporate Secretarial and Accounting teams to provide integrated professional services.
Business Development
- Drive business development initiatives to grow the firm's tax practice.
- Identify new business opportunities through networking, referrals and existing client relationships.
- Prepare proposals, fee quotations and presentations for prospective clients.
- Represent the firm at seminars, networking events and professional organisations.
People Leadership
- Lead, mentor and develop the tax team to achieve high levels of technical competency and professional excellence.
- Review work performed by managers, assistant managers, senior associates and associates.
- Conduct staff coaching, performance evaluations and career development planning.
- Recruit, train and retain talented tax professionals.
Department Management
- Manage departmental operations, resource planning and workflow to ensure timely delivery of client services.
- Monitor departmental profitability, utilisation, recoverability, billing and budget performance.
- Develop and improve departmental policies, procedures and quality control systems.
- Ensure compliance with the firm's risk management and professional standards.
Strategic Leadership
- Work closely with the Company Board of Director and Group COO in formulating and executing the firm's business strategy.
- Participate in leadership meetings and contribute to the firm's overall business planning.
- Lead special projects, process improvements and digital transformation initiatives.
- Assume increasing management responsibilities as part of the leadership succession programme.
Requirements
- Minimum 9 years' Singapore tax experience
- Big 4 /established mid-tier background preferred
- CA Singapore /ACCA / SCTP Accredited Tax Adviser preferred
- Strong technical knowledge of Singapore corporate tax, personal tax and GST
- Proven leadership and people management skills
- Strong client relationship and business development capabilities
- Excellent communication and commercial acumen
