Technical Engineer / Technical Manager (Building)

A1 main contractor in Singapore is seeking a Technical Manager to lead and manage technical coordination across architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines for major construction projects including residential, commercial, and infrastructure developments.

Overview

The Technical Manager will be responsible for overseeing all technical and design coordination matters, ensuring constructability, compliance, and alignment between consultants, subcontractors, and site teams. The role plays a critical part in mitigating design risks, resolving complex technical issues, and supporting successful project delivery.

• Lead overall technical and design coordination across Architecture, Structure, and MEP disciplines

• Manage and review consultants’ designs, shop drawings, and technical submissions

• Chair technical and coordination meetings with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams

• Identify design, constructability, and interface risks early and propose mitigation measures

• Coordinate resolution of complex technical issues arising during construction

• Ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, building codes, and authorities’ requirements

• Oversee RFIs, design clarifications, alternative proposals, and technical submissions

• Support project team in construction sequencing, temporary works coordination, and method statements

• Provide technical guidance and leadership to Assistant Managers, Engineers, and Coordinators

• Support quality management, inspections, and technical aspects of project handover

• Assist Project Manager in technical planning, value engineering, and cost/time optimisation

Requirements

• Degree in Civil, Structural, Architectural, or related engineering discipline

• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in construction projects

• Proven experience working with an A1 main contractor is strongly preferred

• Strong understanding of architectural, structural, and MEP coordination

• Familiar with local codes, authorities’ submission processes, and construction practices

• Proficient in AutoCAD, MS Office; BIM coordination experience is an advantage
