Motion Control Engineer
About this job
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Motion Control Engineer to join a precision equipment manufacturer at the forefront of semiconductor and optical equipment innovation. This is a hands-on technical role for someone who wants to design and own control algorithms for high-precision manufacturing systems — not a people-management position, but a senior individual-contributor role where your technical judgment drives real product performance.
You will work at the intersection of control theory, mechatronics, and precision engineering, developing the algorithms and control strategies that make ultra-precision equipment stable, accurate, and reliable.
What You'll Do
- Develop advanced control algorithms for high-precision manufacturing equipment, spanning motion control, servo control, thermal control, and force control
- Lead vibration analysis for ultra-precision equipment and modules — conducting open-loop and closed-loop assessments, and working with the mechanical design team to predict vibration characteristics
- Design and implement vibration control strategies (passive, active, or semi-active) to improve equipment performance and stability
- Design, develop, verify, and optimize control systems end-to-end, including electrical/electronic systems, control-related hardware, software, firmware, sensors, and instruments
- Conduct system-level testing and validation at the equipment/module level, evaluate design effectiveness using experimental data, and drive continuous design improvement with the mechanical team
- Troubleshoot control-system issues alongside equipment development and manufacturing teams, continuously improving system stability and reliability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Mechanical Design, Simulation, and Process teams to ensure successful development, integration, and debugging ahead of mass production
What We're Looking For
- Master's degree or higher in Automation, Control Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanics, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience developing motion control systems, ideally within the semiconductor or optical equipment industry
- Strong theoretical foundation in control theory, kinematics, and system simulation, with the ability to design algorithms using both modern control approaches and classical methods (e.g., PID)
- Hands-on expertise in motion control system development and servo system design/debugging, with familiarity in relevant hardware (motion control cards, servo amplifiers) and software (MATLAB, Python, etc.)
- Experience in mechatronics — particularly mechanical dynamics, vibration analysis and control — with solid grounding in relevant experimental methods and tools
- Proficiency in one or more programming languages (C, C++, C#, etc.)
- Strong problem-solving ability, an innovative mindset, and a track record of effective collaboration across multidisciplinary teams
- Fluency in English and Mandarin (read, write, speak) to work with regional and cross-border teams
