Senior Cook / Cook (Serangoon NEX)

About the Role

Chin Mee Chin Bakery, a heritage kopitiam with over a century of history, has recently opened its second outlet at NEX. We are looking for a Cook / Senior Cook to prepare our range of local rice dishes, curries, and sandwiches to a consistently high standard, staying true to the traditional flavours and recipes that Chin Mee Chin is known for.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook menu items including curry chicken rice, nasi lemak with grilled chicken cutlet, and the smashed fried chicken sambal sandwich, in line with the brand's recipes and standards. Ensure consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation across all dishes served. Manage mise en place, including prepping curries, sambals, gravies, and marinades ahead of service. Monitor stock levels of raw ingredients and inform management of replenishment needs in a timely manner. Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen in accordance with food hygiene and safety regulations. Coordinate with front-of-house and beverage staff to ensure smooth order flow and timely food preparation, especially during peak hours. For Senior Cook: take the lead on kitchen operations during shifts, oversee and guide junior cooks, ensure recipe standards and food quality are consistently upheld, and step in to support menu development or new dish trials as needed.

Requirements

Prior experience as a cook in a kopitiam, coffeeshop, or local F&B establishment is preferred; Senior Cook applicants should have at least 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, including some experience leading or guiding a kitchen team. Familiarity with traditional local dishes and cooking methods (curries, braises, rice dishes) is a strong advantage. Good understanding of food hygiene and safety standards; possession of a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate is an advantage, or willingness to obtain one. Ability to work efficiently and stay composed during busy service periods. Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
