About the role: We are looking for a Welding Specialist to support welding operations within the Weld-Shop. You will be responsible for coordinating shop-floor activities, training and coaching team members, maintaining safety and quality standards, and supporting production and delivery targets.
- Support and coordinate daily Weld-Shop operations to meet Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery targets.
- Train, coach and guide team members to improve welding skills and work standards.
- Create welding parameters and programs for cladding machines.
- Support welding qualification tests and procedure qualification activities.
- Apply knowledge of Auto TIG and manual welding processes, welding procedures, metal properties and shop mathematics.
- Monitor and maintain welding equipment, tooling and other shop equipment.
- Develop and improve welding processes and work instructions.
- Coordinate with maintenance and internal stakeholders to optimize manufacturing processes and reduce queue times.
- Drive 5S, Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Initiate improvement plans and cost-saving measures.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Support the team in achieving on-time delivery and production targets.
- Work with robotic and automated equipment within the manufacturing environment.
- Monitor manufacturing performance and operational trends using relevant manufacturing systems and dashboards.
- Resolve routine operational and technical issues independently.
About you:
- Diploma or NITEC in Welding, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 5–7 years of experience in a cladding machine Weld-Shop environment.
- Hands-on experience with Auto TIG / manual welding processes.
- Experience in welding parameters, programming and welding procedures.
- Experience in Lean manufacturing and problem-solving.
- Good knowledge of workplace safety procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good PC skills, particularly Microsoft Office applications.
- SAP experience is an advantage.
- Strong technical knowledge of welding, metal properties and manufacturing processes.
- Able to work effectively in a shop-floor environment and coordinate with different stakeholders.
- Shop-floor based role with approximately 50% of the time spent in the Weld-Shop environment.
- Exposure to noise, heavy equipment, machinery and other typical manufacturing shop-floor conditions.
- Training will be provided on relevant workplace safety and company operating procedures.
- Willing to work on rotating shifts
