Dulwich College (Singapore) is recruiting a Food Technology Teaching Assistant to support and promote cookery and food education across the College through the effective management of the DUCKS Cooking Room. The role involves planning and delivering cooking activities, maintaining resources and equipment, promoting healthy lifestyles and nutrition, and fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead cooking sessions for children aged 2 to 7 years;

  • Arrange maintenance and servicing of equipment as and when needed;

  • Prepare resources and support the delivery of curriculum-based cooking activities across all year groups;

  • Work collaboratively with Year Group Leaders (YGLs), Assistant Year Group Leaders (AYGLs) and Mandarin Leads to plan curriculum-linked cooking lessons and WOW Days within an agreed budget, ensuring activities are practical and achievable within the allocated timeframe;

  • Design and implement information programmes that promote healthy lifestyle, nutrition and wellbeing;

  • Prepare food and resources for lessons and lead cooking related CCAs; 


  • Coordinate the ordering and purchasing of ingredients, equipment, and materials as required;

  • Maintain accurate stock levels and ensure the safe and appropriate storage of all supplies;

  • Uphold high standards of hygiene and cleanliness within the DUCKS Cooking Room, including the regular cleaning and maintenance of ovens, hobs, equipment, and work surfaces;

  • Advise the Director of Business Administration on Health and Safety issues; 


  • Create and maintain displays within and outside the Cooking Room to celebrate and promote student learning;

  • Support school events and initiatives related to food, nutrition, and cookery as required;

  • Maintain the booking system for the Cooking Room. 


All other duties commensurate with the post.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Recognised Diploma or certificate in Food and Nutrition Science.

  • Current food hygiene certificate or equivalent qualification.

  • Experience in Food Preparation and Hygiene in a commercial or educational setting.

  • Experience of working with young people.

  • Good communication skills and the ability to develop positive relationships across the College.

  • Experience of ordering and managing the stock control of consumable items.

  • Excellent cooking skills and experience of demonstrating techniques to others.

  • Awareness of health, safety, and safeguarding requirements relevant to working in a school environment.
