Migrant Worker Engagement Officer

We are seeking a compassionate, independent, and professional individual to conduct welfare interviews with migrant workers residing in dormitories. This role plays a critical part in ensuring workers' living conditions, wellbeing, and welfare standards meet regulatory requirements and support a positive living environment.

The successful candidate will engage directly with migrant workers, gather honest feedback on dormitory facilities and services, identify potential welfare concerns, and provide meaningful recommendations for continuous improvement.

This role requires strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, investigative interviewing abilities, and a genuine passion for improving the wellbeing of migrant workers.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct face-to-face interviews and engagement sessions with non english speaking migrant workers across various dormitories.
• Build trust and rapport with workers from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
• Assess worker satisfaction regarding: Accommodation facilitiesCleanliness and hygiene Food quality Recreation facilities Transportation arrangements Safety and security measures Medical and healthcare support Welfare programmes and services
• Gather and analyse qualitative and quantitative feedback.
• Prepare detailed reports, findings, and recommendations for management and relevant stakeholders.
• Escalate serious welfare or safety concerns promptly.
• Collaborate with dormitory operators, service providers, and relevant agencies to improve living standards.
• Conduct periodic audits, surveys, and welfare assessments.
• Maintain accurate records while adhering to confidentiality requirements.

Requirements

• Diploma in Social Sciences, Psychology, Human Resources, Community Development, Social Work, Public Policy, or related disciplines.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in stakeholder engagement, interviewing, social services, employee relations, community outreach, compliance, auditing, investigations, or related fields.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to engage individuals from diverse nationalities and backgrounds.
• Excellent observation, listening, and interviewing skills.
• Strong report writing and analytical skills.
  High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.
• Comfortable travelling to dormitories and conducting fieldwork.

Preferred

• Experience working with migrant workers, foreign workforce communities, NGOs, government agencies, or welfare-related programmes.
• Familiarity with dormitory operations and worker welfare standards.
• Ability to converse with non English speaking migrant working who speaks the following languages is advantageous: Bengali Tamil Mandarin Burmese Hindi
